What are the ratios for each room?

At Hawthorn Grove, we believe it is important that ratios are a step above the ratios outlined by the State of Ohio. In addition to the full time teachers who will be assigned to the room, we will have teacher’s assistants who will be able to float between rooms in order to provide additional care and assistance to little ones.

  • Seeds (0-12 months): 1 teacher: 4 children (3:10) max size: 12

  • Sprouts (12-20 months): 1 teacher: 4 children (3:10) max size: 12

  • Seedlings (20-28 months): 1 teacher: 5 children (3:14) max size: 14

  • Saplings (28 - 36 months): 1 teacher: 5 children (3:13) max size: 13

  • Nursery (3-4 years): 1 teacher: 8 children (3:24) max size: 24

  • Grove (4+ years): 1 teacher: 10 children (3:28) max size: 28

When can I come tour?

We prefer to schedule tours between 9 AM - 12 PM after morning drop off but contact us to schedule a tour anytime!

Can I enroll my child anytime?

Yes, of course! Our center will be open enrollment year round and afford the opportunity for your little one to join at any time. While there is a curriculum map for each classroom (preschool aged will be more sequenced) the program is designed to grow with your child, they will receive individualized care based on age. Our promise is when children leave Hawthorn Grove they will have the academic and social-emotional skills to meet kindergarten readiness objectives.

What tool will you use to communicate my child’s progress?

Communication is so important when it comes to your child’s progress and over all well being. In addition to in-person, phone, and email communication, we will be using the Procare app as an all-inclusive tool for pick up and drop off, daily communication, lesson plans and objectives, as well as a way to share pictures and messages about your child’s day.

Do the children go outside everyday?

It is important that at any age group there is time to play outdoors. We encourage our students to come prepared - rain, shine…or snow! We will also have an indoor motor room for children to have the opportunity to use their kinesthetic minds on rainy days where the playground is not ideal.

Do you offer part time service in the infant rooms?

We understand our families have different schedules and may only want to send infants to our center part time. However, when it comes to our Seeds and Sprouts maintaining consistency is of the utmost importance. Developmentally our littlest ones need every day of the week to bond with caregivers, and unfortunately an intermittent schedule doesn’t set them up for success in the classroom.
